L/22/02/1 Chairman to Read the Fire Safety Notice and Announce that Proceedings May be Filmed or Recorded
The Chairman opened the meeting read out the fire safety briefing and announced that the meeting was being recorded.
L/22/02/2 Apologies for Absence
Apologies were received from Cllr Crissall.
L/22/02/3 Declaration of Member’s Interests and to Remind Councillors of the Need to Keep up to Date Their Register of Member’s Interests and to Consider Any Requests Received for Members Dispensation
None noted. There were no requests for dispensation.
L/22/02/4 To Receive and Confirm for Accuracy the Minutes of the Leisure Services Committee Meeting Held on Monday 4th December 2023 and Any Matters Arising
Members received the minutes of the Leisure Services Committee meeting held on 4th December 2023 and the following was agreed:
L/24/02/4.01 Resolved
That the minutes of the Leisure Services Committee meeting held on 4th December 2023 be adopted and signed as a true record by the Chairman of the Leisure Services Committee.
There were no matters arising.
L/22/02/5 Public Open Session
No members of the public wished to speak.
L/22/02/6 To Receive the Accounts
The accounts for January 2024 were received and noted.
L/22/02/7 Events Update
Christmas 2023 Event – A debrief report was presented and noted.
MLF Twinning 70th Anniversary Visit to Newmarket 2024 – A date for the visit is to be confirmed possibly in September 2024 and the itinerary will be presented to Council for approval.
DD-80 Beacon Event – A report on the plans for the event was discussed and the following was agreed:
L/24/02/7.01 Recommendation
That booking continues and logistics are arranged with the Jockey Club for set up and timings.
Car Boot dates for 2024
The following was agreed:
L/24/02/7.02 Recommendation
That the number of dates for car boot sales for 2024 be approved, with delegation of actual dates to Events Manager, Town Clerk and Chair of LS Committee.
L/22/02/8 Newmarket Venues
The income for November and December 2023 was presented to Committee.
The venue hire fees were reviewed and the following was agreed:
L/24/02/8.01 Recommendation
That the restructured hire fees for Newmarket venues be published and set for 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025, with special consideration for local groups and local charities as necessary and a strategy to monitor at future Committee meetings.
