L/22/04/1 Chairman to Read the Fire Safety Notice and Announce that Proceedings May be Filmed or Recorded

The Chairman opened the meeting, the fire safety briefing not required, announced that the meeting was being recorded by the Minute Assistant and asked if anyone else intended to record the meeting.

L/22/04/2 Apologies for Absence

Apologies were received from Cllrs Borda and Crissall. Cllr Jarvis was absent.

L/22/04/3 Declaration of Member’s Interests and to Remind Councillors of the Need to Keep up to Date Their Register of Member’s Interests and to Consider Any Requests Received for Members Dispensation

None noted. There were no requests for dispensation.

L/22/04/4 To Receive and Confirm for Accuracy the Minutes of the Leisure Services Committee Meeting Held on Monday 5th February 2024 and Any Matters Arising

Members received the minutes of the Leisure Services Committee meeting held on 5th February 2024 and the following was agreed:

L/24/04/4.01 Resolved

That the minutes of the Leisure Services Committee meeting held on 5th February 2024 be adopted and signed as a true record by the Chairman of the Leisure Services Committee. There were no matters arising.

L/22/04/5 Public Open Session

No members of the public were present.

L/22/04/6 To Receive the Accounts

The accounts for March 2024 were received and noted.

L/22/04/7 Outdoor Gym

A report on the installation of an outdoor gym was considered and locations will be sought and considered along with quotes to supply the equipment.

L/22/04/8 Events Update

DD-80 Event 6th June 2024 – A report was presented outlining the activities for the event from 5:30pm – 9:15pm and bookings will continue to be confirmed along with the logistic arrangements with the Jockey Club for set up times.

MLF Twinning 70th Anniversary Visit to Newmarket 2024 – A report was presented outlining the activities for the event to be held on the weekend on 20th September 2024 and bookings will be confirmed and delegated powers were given to the Chairman and Town Clerk to authorise any further costs within the current year budget.

L/24/04/8.01 Recommendation

That delegated powers of spending be given to Town Clerk and Chair of Leisure Services to authorise any further costs within the current year budget.

Summer Entertainment – A report on the plans for the event will be presented at the next meeting.

Christmas 2024 – a report on the plans for 2024 was presented and the following was agreed:

L/24/04/8.02 Recommendation

That the plan for the Christmas event 2024 be approved in principal and that the Events Manager presents the costings at the next Leisure Services meeting.

Carnival 2025 – a report on holding a Carnival in 2025 was presented and the following was agreed:

L/24/04/8.03 Recommendation

That a Carnival be held in 2025 and that the date and budget be confirmed at a future Leisure Services meeting.

L/22/04/9 Newmarket Venues

March 2024 – Total £3,608

Year to date as at 31/03/2024 total £38,900.
