Minutes of the Extraordinary Meeting of Newmarket Town Council held on Monday 1st March 2021 at 7:55 pm via Zoom

21/03/1 Welcome
The Mayor opened the meeting and announced that the meeting was being recorded and asked if anyone else intended to record the meeting. There were no requests.

21/03/2 Apologies for Absence – LGA 1972, Section 85(1) & (2)
Apologies were received from Cllr Anderson.

21/03/3 Declaration of Members Interests & to Remind Councillors of the Need to Keep up to Date Their Register of Member’s Interests and to Consider any Requests Received for Member’s Dispensation
Cllrs Drummond and Kerby declared a nonpecuniary interest in item 5.

21/03/4 Public Open Session
The BID Manager Paul Brown presented the BID Business Plan and objectives for the next term including the plans for digital signage in the High Street and increasing the remit of the Town Ranger. The levy fee would be £329 per year for the next 2 years and if the BID is re-elected, they would continue to contribute to the cost of the Christmas lights.

It was noted that levy payers would see the real benefits of what the BID brings to the Town and that businesses would need all the support available to recover from the economic downturn

21/03/5 Newmarket Business Improvement District (BID)
The BID Notice of Ballot was considered and the following was agreed:

21/03/5.01 Resolved
That NTC casts a vote in favour of the re-election of the Newmarket BID.

The Mayor wished the BID every success in the election.

21/03/6 Date of the next Virtual Meeting
Monday 22nd March 2021.
