Councillor Winter’s Monthly Update – June 2022
In May 2022 I received the honour of being elected as mayor for the town of Newmarket.
It is my passion to make the town look neat and tidy, and to support business growth. I have had various meetings with West Suffolk, and Suffolk County Councils with their greater resources, to discuss the upkeep of the town and cemetery.
Part of my plan is to plant flowers every season to brighten up our streets and neighbourhoods.
I have attended meetings that promote the town with organisations such as the BID and their Business Awards, Jockey Club Estates, and The Racing Centre and the Police amongst others.
Together with various businesses and organisations, we will be working towards promoting every aspect of the town to bring prosperity into Newmarket.
During my first month as mayor, I had the pleasure of attending the Jubilee events in Newmarket on the 2nd, 3rd and 5th of June.
It was a three-day Jubilee party in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, which vivified the town with professional entertainers, carnivals, community groups and celebrations.
These events require a lot of hard work and dedication from everyone involved.
I do hope that you were all able to enjoy the extra public holiday and celebrations provided. Thank you to everyone in Newmarket who attended the event and helped to make this possible.
Next up, is the Soapbox Derby in August which promises to be a spectacular event to look forward to.
