How you feel about becoming the new Mayor of Newmarket?
I feel very honoured to be elected by my fellow Councillors and will endeavour to fill this role to the best of my ability.

How will you use your new position to positively impact the town?
At this stage I have not had any challenges thrown at me, but when they occur I will have to think them through and hopefully will make a decision which will benefit Newmarket residents.

What is your connection with the town (how long have you lived locally / family etc)
I came to live in Newmarket in 1965 where my husband John Winter trained at Highfield, Bury Road. I lived there until his retirement when we moved to Ousden. John died in January 2000 and after a year I built a house in Gazeley where I stayed until I moved in 2012 to an apartment in Newmarket.

What has been the most memorable experience as a Cllr to date?
I was particularly pleased to assist in the refurbishment of The Memorial Gardens and the re- design of The Clock Tower flower beds.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I watch as much racing as possible on television and particularly follow the fortunes of William HAGGAS who was assistant to my husband.
