The Newmarket Branch of the Royal British Legion is seeking members for the Branch Committee. The committee needs a re-launch to re-establish it, as an active and fully functioning Branch which is able to represent the membership and the local community.
Membership is not just open to those currently serving or have previously served in the Armed Forces, but is open to everyone who shares the values of the Legion, to support the Armed Forces community.
Paul Greenwood, RBL Newmarket Branch member said, “It is disappointing that the Newmarket Branch is in its current position due to lack of support, but this it is not uncommon for some Branches to struggle with volunteers who are willing to stand on the committee. I hope our efforts for the resurrection of the Branch will allow us to continue our efforts with events including Remembrance, but to build upon this with other activities and events throughout the year, within and benefitting the local community.”
“It will not be an onerous task supporting the Newmarket Branch committee and it is hoped sufficient volunteers will come forward to support its work.”
Any training required to undertake a role within the Branch committee will be provided. Membership of the Royal British Legion starts from £18 per year and you must be affiliated to a Legion Branch. Members receive a membership card, RBL Magazine/E-Newsletter and other exclusive offers/benefits.
Interested parties can join by contacting the RBL membership hotline via telephone number 0800 307 7773 or the RBL website – britishlegion.org.uk
In 2021, the RBL celebrated its centenary year and Branches are at the heart of it’s work.
