Welcome to my Latest Partnership Funded PCSO Report.
Below are some of the activities I have been involved in alongside actively supporting the Police with tasks regarding crimes reported in Newmarket, this has involved requesting and collecting CCTV submitting intelligence (10 this month) and speaking with businesses that have been victims or witnesses of crime to offer support, advice, and updates.
PURSE THEFTS Leading up to the Christmas break we had an increase in Purse/Wallet thefts in response to this I had additional pop-up stalls in and around the town, offering crime reduction advice and also free cat bells to be used as an early warning/deterrent. Additionally, I also had a small number of audible alarms which I was able to offer free of charge to particularly vulnerable persons.
SPEEDING Following reports of speeding and inappropriate use of horns by motorists on Fordham Road I arranged for additional checks to be conducted resulting in a number of drivers being dealt with for exceeding the speed limit. I Will continue to deliver the additional speed checks in and around the town in conjunction with our speed camera units.
VACCINATION SITES Newmarket continues to host regular pop-up vaccination sites around the town at venues such as The Racing Centre and I ensure that these are visited periodically for reassurance purposes.
KNIFE CRIME I will be attending Newmarket Academy daily WC 17/01/2022 at their request to help in delivering five presentations on knife crime. This follows on from a number of incidents where students have brought knives onto the site.
STREET PARTY The Town Council Organised Street Party on 18/12/2021 was an enormous success and I was able to engage with large numbers of the community albeit in a quite different guise…
CHRISTMAS LUNCHES OLISE Took the decision to cancel their planned Christmas Lunch event on 20/12/2021 opting instead to deliver a small hamper to each family/person that would have attended. I was happy to help with delivering these. The Day Centre however did host their Christmas Lunch on 21/12.2021 with 80 pensioners in attendance and I helped with serving and clearing up.
MEMORIAL GARDENS Criminal damage was reported Christmas eve when council owned signage was damaged/removed from the entrance gates. The person responsible was successfully identified from CCTV and is currently being dealt with having made a full admission.
CHRISTMAS EVE Police in Newmarket experienced a remarkably busy night and with both public order and criminal damage offences escalating a dispersal order was put in place by the duty inspector.
