Welcome to my Latest Partnership Funded PCSO Report.
Below are some of the activities I have been involved in alongside actively supporting the Police with tasks regarding crimes reported in Newmarket, this has involved requesting and collecting CCTV submitting intelligence (11 this month) and speaking with businesses that have been victims or witnesses of crime to offer support, advice, and updates.
- STUDLANDS- I have begun a series of joint patrols with Councillor Ferries looking at issues such as fly tipping and street drinking. Also, I was invited along to the Friendship Club at the Studlands Community Centre where I delivered a presentation on my role.
- REMEMBRANCE- The Parade which took place on 14/11/2021 in Newmarket was very well supported and I managed to put together a Police contingent of seven officers to take part.
- OP SCEPTRE- Is a week of action regarding knife crime and although we are not currently doing inputs in our schools due to COVID I was able to join with our Engagement Officer to run a series of pop-up stalls in Newmarket.
- RAYES LANE- Unfortunately, we recently had an incident whereby a child on their way to school inadvertently startled one of the Racehorses on the horse walk resulting in the rider being thrown. Police and Ambulance were both in attendance along with staff from the Jockey Club, and the school in question also received a visit. I Will hopefully be returning to speak to children re behaviour around horses in the near future.
- CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON- This event was very well supported and having requested additional resources The Police had six Officers on Foot Patrol including Inspector Shipton.
- HOMELESS- We still have two homeless persons in Newmarket, and they were both revisited by outreach workers this week to discuss housing options. Unfortunately, no progress was made and a long-term solution is still being sought.
- STREET BEGGING-Whilst on Patrol on the High Street on 24/11/2021 I came across a street beggar I was able to engage with him obtain details and offer help which resulted in him packing up and leaving.
- MEMORIAL GARDENS- No calls have been received since the flare up over half term. A request has been made for possible additional Policing resources over the Christmas Break, and this is currently still being considered
- SPEED CHECKS-I have been actively conducting speed checks at sites considered to be a problem by members of public. These are in addition to the regular checks carried out by our Safecam team.
- VACCINATION SITES- Such as Rowley Mile Racecourse have received reassurance visits when active.

I am Happy to give advice and guidance where I can. If it is something that I cannot give an immediate answer too, then I am ideally placed to seek advice from other professionals. Member of the public wanting advice on police-related matters can be signposted to the Suffolk Constabulary.
