The flag outside the Memorial Hall has been lowered to half-mast in memory of the former mayor of Newmarket, Keith Bovill.
Town Mayor Michael Jefferys said: ‘’ It was with great sadness that we learnt of the sudden death of the former Mayor Keith Bovill.
Keith was the driving force of the Battle of the Bands competition, which was held in the Memorial Hall. He then became a town councillor. He was a conscientious councillor, who carried out his duties with charm and good humour. He was elected Mayor in 2011. He always served Newmarket with dignity and integrity. His only motivation was for the good of the town.
Our sincere condolences go to his family. Keith will be sorely missed.’’
Keith Bovill was elected as a town councillor in May 2007 and became mayor in May 2011, serving a one-year term of office.
