PCSO June report

Welcome to my monthly Partnership Funded PCSO report.

Below are some of the activities I have been involved in alongside actively supporting the Police with tasks regarding crimes reported in Newmarket, this has involved requesting and collecting CCTV and speaking with businesses that have been victims or witnesses of crime to offer support, advice and updates  as well as regular intelligence submissions.(10 this Month)

POLICE CADETS  There are currently 15 Police Cadets in the Forest Heath area 3 of whom are students at Newmarket Academy. I put together a training package for the Police Airwaves Radio system which I then along with colleagues presented before carrying out an exercise to give the cadets an opportunity to practice their new skills.

OLISE SUMMER PICNIC  This is an annual event held in the grounds of the CATHOLIC Church in Newmarket for vulnerable families. This year Ten families attended over two days and I attended on the second day to lend a hand and engage with the families.

NEWMARKET DAY CENTRE  Reopened on 14/06/2021 and I will be making regular weekly visits to support and engage with the users of this valuable resource.

TRAVELLER FUNERAL Having been made aware of a funeral for a member of the travelling community which was to take place at Newmarket cemetery on 03/06/2021 I was able to arrange liaison with the Funeral director and in the event the arrangements took place with very little or no disruption.

SHOPWATCH APP Was launched on 07/06/2021 and is now available to shops and businesses in Newmarket.

The app has been developed by Shopsafe who also provide the shop radios for the town businesses. It is actively supported by BID for Newmarket. This will hopefully be utilised as a valuable crime reduction tool by the retail community.

CRIME SCENE PRESERVATION  There have been five incidents in The Town this month which have required Crime Scene Preservation and I was utilised for two of these.

POLICE ADVICE AND GUIDANCE

I am Happy to give advice and guidance where I can. If it is something that I cannot give an immediate answer too, then I am ideally placed to seek advice from other professionals. Member of the public wanting advice on police-related matters can be signposted to the Suffolk Constabulary.
