‘‘It was with deep sorrow that we heard the announcement of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. On behalf of Councillors serving Newmarket Town Council, as well as residents of our Town, we send our sincere condolences to all members of the Royal Family at this sad time”.

Condolence Book
The Books of Condolence are opened on Friday 9th September 2022 between 9.00am to 8.00pm in the King Edward VII Memorial Hall.
The books will remain open until the end of the day following the funeral.
An online book of condolences is open for residents to pay their respects and show their love and support for the Royal Family Online Book

As a mark of respect, the flag at the King Edward VII Memorial Hall is being flown at half-mast.
Flowers
Please consider making a donation to charity instead of leaving floral tributes in memory of Queen Elizabeth II.
Floral tributes may be placed in front of the Queen’s Statue at Birdcage Walk. However, these may also be left at the front of the Memorial Hall from where they will be transported to the Queen’s Statue.
Proclamation
Officials and members of the public are invited to attend the local Reading of the Proclamation on the Accession of the new Sovereign. The Proclamation will be read by the Mayor Philippa Winter and will take place at 3:30 pm on Sunday 11th September 2022 at the King Edward VII Memorial Hall Newmarket, followed by a short multi-faith Prayers of Affirmation. The Newmarket Town Band will join us for the National Anthem.
