D/23/05/33 Chairman to Read the Fire Safety Notice and Announce that Proceedings May be Filmed or Recorded
The Chairman opened the meeting and read out the Fire Notice.
D/23/05/34 Apologies
Apologies were received from Cllr Berry.
D/23/05/35 Declaration of Members Interests & to Remind Councillors of the need to keep up to date their Register of Member’s Interests and to Consider any Requests Received for Member’s Dispensation
Cllr Hood declared an interest in planning application DC/23/0719/FUL. There were no requests for dispensation.
D/23/05/36 To Confirm the Minutes of the Meeting Held on 15th May 2023 and any Matters Arising
The Chairman presented the minutes of the Development & Planning Committee held on 15th May 2023 and the following was agreed:

That the minutes of the Development & Planning Committee held on 15th May 2023 be adopted and signed as a true record by the Chairman of the Development & Planning Committee.
There were no matters arising.
D/23/05/37 Public Open Session
Two residents from Adastral Close reported issues of speeding in the residential area mainly by parents dropping off children at the Montessori and Forest School Nurseries. When the nursery first opened there was an arrangement agreed where parents could use the Academy carpark and walk to the nursery, but this is no longer available. The nursery area does not have a 20mph speed limit and dangerous driving is causing real concern for all users of the area.
Town Clerk will investigate installing a SID and will write to the head teachers of the Academy and Nurseries. The PCSO will also be asked to be visible in the area during peak times of 07:00hrs – 09:00hrs, 11:00hrs – 13:00hrs and 16:00hrs – 19:00hrs. Cllr Hood will make enquiries with SCC on introducing a 20mph school zone for the area.

The Committee actively encourages responsible tree management and objects to the felling of healthy trees. The Committee objected to this application and requested that the application be submitted to the Tree Officer for consideration. If the tree is to be felled, that it be felled outside of the bird nesting season and the Committee requests that a suitable replacement be planted. However, the Committee is aware that sycamore seeds are poisonous to horses.
