Minutes of the Extraordinary Meeting of Newmarket Town Council held on Thursday 4th March 2021 at 7:30 pm via Zoom

21/03/7 Welcome
The Mayor opened the meeting and announced that the meeting was being recorded and asked if anyone else intended to record the meeting. There were no requests.
21/03/8 Apologies for Absence – LGA 1972, Section 85(1) & (2)
None noted. Cllr Anderson was absent.
21/03/9 Declaration of Members Interests & to Remind Councillors of the Need to Keep up to Date Their Register of Member’s Interests and to Consider any Requests Received for Member’s Dispensation
None noted.
21/03/10 Public Open Session
No member of the Public wished to speak.
Town Clerk advised item 12 had a potential commercial element and needed to be discussed in confidential.
21/03/11 Exclusion of the Press & Public
With the vote being unanimous, it was:
21/03/12.01 Resolved
To resolve that under the Public Bodies (Admissions to Meetings) Act 1960, the public and press be excluded for the remainder of the meeting because of the likely disclosure of private and confidential information or staff matters.

21/03/12 ***Town Museum Update***
A report on a possible site for the Town Museum with costs and budget options was considered and discussed. The following was agreed:
A recorded vote was requested and the results were as follows:
Votes for – Cllrs Jefferys, Appleby, Borda, De’Ath, Fitzgerald, Kerby, O’Neill and Yarrow.
Votes against – Cllrs Drummond, Hood, Hulbert and Lay.
Abstentions – None noted.
***21/03/13.01 Resolved***
That NTC does not have the funds available at this time, to meet the rental charge of the site proposed, for use as a Town Museum.
A recorded vote was requested and the results were as follows:
Votes for – Cllrs Jefferys, Appleby, Borda, De’Ath, Drummond, Fitzgerald, Hood, Hulbert, Kerby, Lay, O’Neill and Yarrow.
Votes against – None noted
Abstentions – None noted.
***21/03/13.02 Resolved***
That NTC would like to have use of the Old Coach House as a Town Museum, at a peppercorn rent – as identified in the Newmarket Neighbourhood Plan. That NTC are disappointed that the property is being leased for a period of 6 years and that a letter be sent to WSC to this effect.
