Purple Tuesday 2020

Purple Tuesday 2020 is established to recognise the importance and needs of disabled consumers, whilst emphasising the lack of inclusive shopping, that leads to a potential £274bn loss to retailers. It is a fact that 75% of disabled customers have walked away due to poor service or accessibility.

Over the past two years Newmarket Town Council along with Love Newmarket and The Guineas Shopping Centre embraced Purple Tuesday by inviting retailers and charity groups, with events that took place in town. Regrettably, the Town Council is unable to hold this event due Covid-19 restrictions.

We can still support the positive change Purple Tuesday is creating for the disabled people. Share your thumbs up photos and videos throughout November on social media with @PurpleTuesNov and @NewmarketTownCouncil.

Tonight we shine a light on accessible shopping and the barriers faced by disabled customers on a daily basis, by illuminating the Clock Tower purple until the 20th November.
