Newmarket Youth Council

The Aims and Roles of Newmarket Youth Council:

  1. Newmarket Youth Council is made up of young people from all the schools in Newmarket. Each First School has 2 representatives; each Middle school has up to 3 representatives and Newmarket College has 4 representatives.
  2. The Youth Council meets 3 times in the autumn term; 3 times in the spring term and twice in the summer term.
  3. The Chair of the Youth Council presents a monthly report to the Town Council.
  4. The Youth Council should be consulted on major initiatives and new developments in Newmarket.
  5. The Youth Council will represent young people, when necessary, at events in Newmarket.
  6. The Youth Council will establish links with the Forest Heath Youth Forum and with school councils.
  7. The Youth Council is committed to providing a platform for discussion and actions to represent the interests of all the young people of Newmarket.
  8. The Youth Council is committed to promoting environmentally friendly policies.
  9. The Youth Council is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all the young people of Newmarket.
  10. The Youth Council is dedicated to establishing partnerships with community and local authority groups for the benefit of all the young people of Newmarket.
  11. The Youth Councils aims to provide and manage an online forum for the voice of the youth of Newmarket and to promote better communication.
