Duties of the Leisure Services Committee are:
- To promote, enable and facilitate cultural, artistic and sporting activities and events throughout the town through its own efforts and partnership working with other groups and organisations
- The provision and day to day running of the Memorial Gardens and play areas iunder the authority of the Town Council
- To manage the day to day bookings of the Sports Pavilion
- To be responsible for the management of the Sports Pavilion building
- To deal with Town Twinning, hospitality and public relations activities
- The provision of activities and events in the Memorial Hall and Memorial Gardens
- To support the provision of christmas lights within the town centre
- To organise, manage and monitor the annual Newmarket Carnival
- To consider applications in respect of car boot sales and other activities at the Severals
- To contribute to the council's Annual Report and other publicity material relating to the responsibilities of this committee
- To assemble and submit to the Finance and Policy Committee, estimates of income and expenditure for each financial year in respect of all services related to this committee
Membership of this committee is elected at the Annual Meeting of the Town Council. Three members or one-third of the total membership, whichever is greater, shall constitute a quorum.
