Lexington Sister Cities Exchange

These are the words from a speech written by two Newmarket Academy students, Lucy and Adam, which highlights how the wonderful support of our community has made the Lexington Sister Cities Exchange possible and such a success.

“As our week together draws to a close we just wanted to say thank you for all of those who have made this amazing week possible.
Our first thanks you goes to the Town council for all they have done with funding some of the events this week and for the Morris Dancing welcome at the memorial Hall.
Thank you to the Jockey Club for hosting us today. Thank you, Amy and George, for your generous hospitality and for spoiling us today.
Our thanks also go to Discover Newmarket for coordinating such a fab week. We really enjoyed our tour of Cambridge and Punting and we know the American students were blown away by their tour of Newmarket and the lavish dinner we all enjoyed at the Jockey Club Rooms.
Thanks to Dianne and Penny from Godolphin for the great tour of Dalham Hall and delicious Barbeque. Also thanks to the Heath Court Hotel for feeding us a delicious dinner of bangers and mash and sticky toffee pudding desert – oh how very English.
Our final thanks go to the families for making this all possible and for supporting us throughout this week.
To our American friends, thanks for coming. We hope you had a great week. We the students, are really looking forward to seeing you all in Lexington in October.
Have a safe journey home and remember you will always receive a warm welcome here in Newmarket.”
