Christmas Tea Dance

Once a month, Newmarket Town Council hosts a tea dance for locals to enjoy an afternoon of socialising and dancing.

Our most recent Tea Dance, held on the 13th December, saw many local residents flock to the Memorial Hall for a Christmas special.

Guests have the chance to win raffle prizes every month, however, this month saw an extra prize up for grabs. The beautiful hamper, filled with festive food and drink, was kindly donated by the Mayor of Newmarket and all proceeds of this raffle were donated to Diabetes UK.

Some of December’s other raffle prizes included a meal for two at the Heath Court Hotel donated by Hotel Manager, Robert Nobbs, and Christmas prizes from the Town Council.

The Tea Dance has been successfully running for many years, with the aim of combating loneliness and to provide an open space for the town’s older residents to socialise, dance, and enjoy afternoon tea with other retirees.

The monthly event has dates set for 2020 and encourages people to get out of the house and visit, even if it’s just for a cuppa!
