It is now five months since the elections and the formation of the new Town Council. During this time we have seen the successful completion of the refurbished Memorial Hall and have been delighted at the positive feedback from visitors. The building is more accessible and we would like to encourage more of our residents to attend committee meetings and to become further involved in the issues affecting their town.

I would like to congratulate the Newmarket Retailers Association on their very successful ‘Strictly Come Newmarket’ competition. As a result of their innovative thinking and positive approach there are now seven new retailers in the Town.

Another positive highlight of these first five months has been the successful campaign to keep the towns Household Waste Recycling Centre open. We are extremely grateful to the Open Door charity for taking this project on.

Finally, with the onset of winter and temperatures starting to fall, please remember to keep an eye out for any older neighbours or relatives to make sure that they are safe and well.
