Memorial Hall Gardens

Duties of the Leisure Services Committee are:

  • To promote, enable and facilitate cultural, artistic and sporting activities and events through out the Town through its own efforts and partnership working with other groups and organisations

  • The provision and day to day running of the Memorial Gardens and Play areas in the control of the Town Council

  • To deal with Town Twinning, hospitality and public relations activities

  • The provision of activities and events in the Memorial Hall and the gardens

  • To support the provision of Christmas Lights within the Town Centre

  • To support Newmarket Carnival

  • To consider applications in respect of car boot sales and other activities at the Severals

  • To consider and recommend, to Council, the award of financial grants, within an overall budget approved by the Council, to local voluntary organisations under the Small Budget Grant Scheme award

  • To contribute to the Annual Report and other publicity material relating to the responsibilities of this Committee

  • To assemble and submit to the Finance and Policy Committee, estimates of income and expenditure for each financial year in respect of all services of this Committee.

Membership of this committee is voted at the Annual Meeting of the Town Council. Three members or one-third of the total membership, whichever is the greater, shall constitute a quorum.
