Duties
of the Community Services Committee are:
-
To deal with all
matters relating to the management,
upkeep and maintenance of grounds, areas
and services under Newmarket Town
Council’s control
-
To provide, control and
monitor the horticultural contracts relating
to grass cutting, seasonal planting,
planters, hanging baskets and trees under
Newmarket Town Council’s control, including
the Severals and land at Birdcage Walk
-
To provide, control and
monitor the street cleansing contract
relating to areas within Newmarket Town
Council’s responsibility
-
The provision and maintenance
of benches and other street furniture, bus
shelters and street lighting in designated areas
within the town
-
The strategic management and
day-to-day running of the Cemetery
-
The upkeep and maintenance of the
churchyards at St Mary’s and All Saints Churches,
the War Memorial and related gardens, Cooper
Memorial, the upkeep and maintenance of the Jubilee
Clock Tower
-
To work with the Newmarket
Allotment Association in the upkeep, maintenance and
general management of the Allotments at Field
Terrace and new Cheveley Road
-
To make recommendations to Council on
matters relating to Traffic Management issues relating
to Newmarket
-
To make recommendations to Council on
Licensing Applications
-
To deal with staff matters that relate
directly to the provision of items 1-11 above. The Staff &
Employment Sub Committee deals with other staff matters
-
To make recommendations to Council on
matters that may from time to time arise and that come
within the overall duty as listed in item 1 above, as well
as any other matter as deferred to this Committee by Town
Council
-
To contribute to the Annual Report and other
publicity material relating to the responsibilities of this
Committee
-
To assemble and submit to the Finance and
Policy Committee, estimates of income and expenditure for each
financial year in respect of all services of this Committee.
Membership of this committee is voted at the
Annual Meeting of the Town Council. Three members or one-third of
the total membership, whichever is the greater, shall constitute a
quorum. |
