Accessibility

The Newmarket Town Council website aims to be accessible to everyone, and we have an ongoing development programme to achieve this aim. If you have any suggestions on how we might improve the service we offer to you then please e-mail them to us at town.clerk@newmarket.gov.uk.

Making the site easier to use

Most browsers will allow you to change the size of text on your screen. We have tried to ensure that our pages display properly whenever you choose this option.

Here is a guide to how to do this, depending on the browser you are using:

Internet Explorer
From the menu at the top of your screen select "View" and then "Text Size". Select a text size option.

Firefox, Mozilla and Google Chrome
Press the "Ctrl" and "+" keys at the same time to increase text size.
Press the "Ctrl" and "-" keys at the same time to decrease text size.

Opera
With your "Num Lock" key turned on: Press 0 to increase text size. Press 9 to decrease text size.

Netscape
Press the "Ctrl" and "]" keys at the same time to increase text size.
Press the "Ctrl" and "[" keys at the same time to decrease text size.

Links

Our site contains numerous links to other pages, documents and other content belonging to this or other websites.

Clicking on a link to any document or to content on external sites will generally open in a new window in your browser. We aim to ensure that, when you hover over such links, you are warned that a new window will be opened if you click the link. This already happens in many cases, but it is not yet universal across our site and it is part of our development programme to include this warning in every appropriate link.

Images

We use images within our site as a visual cue to the content, or in rare cases to improve the look of a page. We also use images to display the official logos of our own services, or of external organisations.

Where images are used they are accompanied by a text alternative, which will show in a 'tooltip' when you hover over the image. This will normally describe what the image is intended to convey.

Documents

The majority of documents included within this site are PDF (Portable Document Format) and will open in a new browser window. If you do not have a PDF Reader you can download one from here.
Please enable 'pop up' windows from newmarket.gov.uk if requested to do so.
